The catch
'App-controlled' means dockside: the 2.4 GHz-only WiFi doesn't work underwater, so the iAquaLink app is for pre-cycle mode picks and done-notifications — PCWorld's hands-on called it 'useless for tracking the robot's status in the water.' That's exactly why the Plus ships a LiFi (light-based) underwater remote: it's the only way to command the robot mid-clean. Cordless carries a ~$400+ premium over comparable corded Polaris robots plus an eventual battery replacement.
Who it's for
Inground pools to 50 ft where eliminating the tangle-prone floating cable is worth the premium — the shared iAquaLink app is a plus for existing Jandy/iAquaLink households, and the LiFi remote covers the mid-clean control the app can't.
